Getting to know Ms. Peachie Baron Saguin

Born in Manila, Philippines. Her first interest in sword play was at an early age of 9 maybe 10, after seeing the cartoon Sinbad. As a child she would play with the stick, swing it and pretend she is a mighty warrior defeating enemies with her magnificent sword, and with her incredible skills of fighting. She made her first weapons, a bow and arrow and a spear from broom sticks. Later in life, she took up Business Administration majoring in Marketing and Advertising at the University of the East, Manila. She was a working student thenm studying at night and working full time during the day as a secretary of the General Manager of the prestigious Marketing outfit. At the end of each office hours, she would hurriedly leave the office at the strike of 5pm to go to La Salle, where as an outstanding student of Marketing in UE, she was sent to La Salle as an exchange student.

As a working student, she had little time to read books, thus her answers in her examinations were purely based on her day to day experiences in her working environment, interacting with different personalities engaged in the field of marketing and advertising. Soon she was sitting on top of advertising, and most of the products she handled were awarded in the Advertising congress as "the product with best advertisiment". Her corporate life was marked with distinction as she consistently became the excellent support of the top management in various firms.
In spite of her busy schedules, she still found the time to engage in different activities. She has not outgrown her childhood fantasy as a mighty warrior. Soon she joined Hwa Rang Do, said to be an elite Korean Martial Arts. She also trained in Jeet Kun do but only for a short while. When she found the group BAKBAKAN, her quench for a full combat acticity was satisfied. She was accepted in Bakbakan International and became the first lady to take the promo for Black Belt and passed. She owes a debt of gratitude to her mentor and friend, the Grandmaster of Bakbakab, Christopher Ricketts.
She is also an accomplished swimmer and has passed in 1998, the one mile open water swimming final test given by Red Cross every summer for swimmers aspiring to be Life Guards. She is also a licensed open water diver and regularly assists in the Wet Ditching trainings of flight Attendants.
In 2005, she resigned from the corporate world and dovoted her time in promoting the Filipino Martial Arts. Her goal is for FMA to gain recognition not only in other countries but in her own country as well. She has continuously rallied the Filipino Martial Art, wrote articles about it and has promoted tha whenever given the chance. She became the secretary of the National Filipino Martial Arts association and has organized mall tours for different clubs. In 2008 she was recognized by Filipino Martial Arts Digest as the Woman of the Year and Master of the Pen in 2009.

In 2010, Daniel Razon, CEO of UNTV37 a Public Service network took her in, and she became the Executive Producer of a healthy cooking show "Cook Eat Right" where the main host and the chef of the is her son, Redj Baron. She was given an award as the Most Valuable Employee in 2011, Cost Efficient, in 2012, and Coat Saver in 2013.
In 2014, she was asigned two more shows, one is Rise & Shine where she incorporated a segment to Promote the Filipino Fighting art, and invited different clubs giving them a chance to demonstrate their styles. This gained her show an award in the 3rd Philippine Martial Arts Hall of Fame held in Baquio City last April 2015 at the Crown Regency Hotel, as the only TV shows that promotes the Filipino Martial Arts.
In 2017, she was appointed as Member of the Board of Directors of Philippine Eskrima Kali Arnis Federation headed by Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri. To date she is continuously promoting the art, not only the Ilustrisimo system but the Filipino Fighting Art in general. |
Touched by the lives of the masters in the Philippines, her mission and visions is to be able to provide a Village for all Filipino Martial Arts elders, funded by all FMA clubs and associations all over the world, so that all learners of FMA will go to only one place, one destination, where all FMA masters will be housed, living a happy, comfortable and productive life even after they have reached the prime of their lives.
